So, we’ve come up with 5 creative themes to help you celebrate your special day in style!

Sweet 16 Photoshoot Ideas and Themes

Before you look over these themes, there are 3 things you need to remember. One of our favorite photoshoots was with Sofia, so we’ll use her as an example!

1. Remember that your session might not go perfectly. At Sophia’s session, it actually started with a little rain! Thankfully, we could make good use of a shelter and then venture out into the park as the rain subsided. She did an amazing job at her Sweet 16 photoshoot at Sawgrass Lake Park in St. Pete.
2. What you wear depends on your location. That’s why we recommend picking a location first. For example, Sofia’s darling pink dress looked amazing in the beautiful setting of Sawgrass Lake Park. Download our FREE What To Wear Guide for tips on picking out the perfect outfit.
3. It’s natural to feel nervous. Especially if you’ve never worked with a photographer before. We last saw Sofia when she was 13 years old at a family photo session, so it was nice to see the lovely young woman she is becoming. However, she was still nervous, so Sofia’s mom, Alicia, and her sister, Amanda, joined in the fun as well!
4. We’ll teach you how to pose! Most people don’t know how to pose naturally (whether you’re 16 or 61!). Here’s a video of how Brent models different poses so you can feel at ease.

Now onto your 5 Sweet 16 photoshoot ideas!

1. Fairytale Princess

If you’ve always dreamed of being a princess, why not make it a reality on your Sweet 16?

Here is Sophia dressed up in a beautiful ball gown and flower crown! We were able to capture her royal elegance in this garden-type setting (imagine if we could take one in a castle!)

This theme is perfect for a whimsical and magical feel.

2. Glamorous Hollywood

If you want to feel like a movie star, a Hollywood glamour theme is the way to go. Wear a chic dress, accessorize with bold jewelry and sunglasses, and strike your best pose.

A Sweet 16 photoshoot at The Ringling Museum in Sarasota (like the one above) or the downtown St. Pete area can provide the perfect backdrop for this theme.

3. Boho Chic

A boho chic theme is an excellent choice for a more laid-back and natural vibe.

Opt for flowy dresses, flower crowns, and a nature-inspired setting like Sand Key Park in Clearwater. Your Sweet 16 photography will showcase a relaxed, ethereal feel that captures your free spirit.

4. Beach Bash

Capture the fun and carefree spirit of your sweet 16 with a beach photoshoot. This is personally one of our favorites. We really love to capture those “glow-ups!”

Hit the sand, surf, and sun in your favorite summer outfits, and finally have photos that capture you in the best light.

5. Urban Street Style

For a cool and edgy look, go for an urban street-style theme. Dress in trendy, bold clothes, and choose an urban setting like a graffiti-covered alleyway or a rooftop overlooking the city.

A Sweet 16 photoshoot in Tampa’s bustling downtown area will give your photos a unique and urban feel.
